“Deam It Up” by Sydney Waysey may be the perfect song to describe the feeling behind MTV’s World of Jenks, a documentary show in which wunderkind filmmaker Andrew Jenks showcases the lives of different young inspirational people across the country as they pursue their goals.
The show’s producers evidently agree with us, as they used the song in Episode 9 of this season,...

Andrew McMahon + Smash looks to be a match made in heaven. We recently shared with McMahon’s song “I Heard Your Voice in a Dream” which was on Smash, and now he’s back with another standout track called “Reach For Me.” Watch a video above of the song, which plays a theater fundraiser where Ana as ”The Diva” mesmerizes the audience with a performance of the...

When Jack’s Mannequin decided to call it quits last year, we felt some strong mixed emotions. Sad to see it end of course, but also excited because Andrew McMahon announced he was starting a new project in which he would drop the Jack’s Mannequin moniker and just use his own name. His track record speaks for itself, so we were confident his new solo venture would explore new territory,...

As far as we’re concerned, the only thing better than one Sleigh Bells song is two Sleigh Bells songs…and the new trailer for Kick-Ass 2 has just that as it features both “Infinity Guitars” and “Crush,” in a nice tip of the hat to both the old and the new albums.
Kick-Ass 2 shows us a now almost-grown up Chloë Grace Moretz reprising her roll as Hit-Girl, as...

Last fall, we we psyched when the trailer for Identity Thief came out. Not only were were excited by the pairing of Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, but we also thought it was great that they used N.E.R.D.’s “Lapdance” to spice up the trailer - as huge fans of anything Pharrell we’re always keeping our ears out.
Well, we finally saw the movie, and while it was a solid...

A few weeks ago we praised MTV’s Washington Heights for using Chancellor Warhol’s great track “Burn All the Money.” The supervisors of the show evidently saw how great of a fit Chancellor Warhol’s music was, as they have now used “Wings” in Episode #8, which you can watch above.
The song plays while Jimmy and Eliza are walking in the street at night...

Pizza Hut has been knocking out of the park when it comes to commercial songs lately, first with a new song from pop-punk legends Relient K, and now with a catchy tune from an up-and-coming band in their latest “Mix and Match” ad.
The band is simply called 1985, and their song “Love Is Everywhere” is the type of catchy sing-a-long song with layered vocal harmonies that is...
Chancellor Warhol’s “Burn All The Money” had a great feature in a recent episode of MTV’s Washington Heights. The song plays while Eliza tells Jimmy to ask his job and see if he can go and Jimmy thanks Eliza for supporting him.
Check out a great interview with this episode’s guest musical supervisor Miguel in the clip above, and listen to his thoughts on what it’s like to chose...

Blues, soul, and other roots music seems to be making a big comeback based on 2012 and early signs for 2013. One great example of this is Little Jackie, whose song “Move To The Beat” is being used in a PSA TV spot for the African American Museum of Philadelphia exhibit on The Supremes. The song is a living example of the ongoing legacy and influence of The Supremes, and for those of you who live...

In the latest episode of MTV’s Buckwild titled “Pitching a Tent,” (watch above) music from one of Brooklyn’s most promising new young bands provided a great background to the camping trip. The band is called Ambassadors, and the song featured was “Caged Animals,” which plays while Katie and Tyler go to sleep in their tent, and the girls mess with them.
First...
