Scene On TV

Judd Appatow and his friends have been responsible for probably half of the great comedies of the past decade, and after finally seeing The Five Year Engagement this weekend, we can safely say they’ve done it again. Starring long-time Appatow parter-in-crime Jason Segel and Emily Blunt, the movie does a great job putting it’s characters into escalating ridiculous situations. Alison Brie and Chris Pratt might even steal the show from the main romance by playing their own hilarious couple, but that’s about all we’ll give for a movie spoilers…

As for music, Appatow has long had a history of great song choices and this movie is no exception. Besides a hilarious re-working of “We Didn’t Start the Fire” that Chris Pratt sings making fun of Tom’s (Segel) past lovers, there was also a great use of long-time Scene On TV favorites, Tokyo Police Club - their song “End of a Spark” was used when Violet (Blunt) is at the bar hanging out with her co-workers on a night she is upset with Tom.
