We’ve said it many times, but Shameless is by far our favorite show out right now. What other show boasts the same perfect balance of drama, comedy, strong characters, and of course, great music use?

There are countless new, exciting bands that Shameless has introduced us to, and in last week’s episode, “May I Trim Your Hedges?” we learned of another, with newly-formed supergroup Holy Fever.  The band features Suicide File frontman Dave Weinberg (lead vocals), Malbec’s Samantha Barbera (bass and vocals), Give Up The Ghost’s (American Nightmare) Brian Masek (guitar), Neeraj Kane (guitar) of Hope Conspiracy and Suicide File, and The Explosion’s Andrew Black (drums) - with all that star power we’re kind of embarrassed to say we hadn’t heard of this project before.

Holy Fever’s song “Guided Missiles, Misguided Men” plays while Ian and Micky are working at Kash & Grab and a teen comes in and realizes that Micky is selling drugs on the side.

MTV’s Awkward, in an episode titled after the classic Cyndi Lauper hit “Time After Time,” recently featured two delightful tunes, including one from Nick Ruth, who was formerly in one of our favorite bands, Malbec.

Australian super-group Seeker, Lover, Keeper provided the first song of notice with “If The Night Is Dark,” which plays when Jenna has a heart to heart with Matty. Sarah Blasko, Sally Seltmann and Holly Throsby comprise this band, and if you’re like us and love Seltmann (and her other projects New Buffalo and Alphabet Botanical), you’ll love Seeker, Lover, Keeper as well.

Going back to Nick Ruth, his song “Believe” provides the soothing background during the slow dance at a wedding, and it’s a tune that stands up with the best of his former band Malbec, as well as Malbec frontman Pablo Sebastian’s solo work. Check out the full episode above and keep your ears open.

Pablo Sebastian’s band Malbec has been featured in the latest episodes of Single Ladies, “Is This Love?”  The song featured is the lovely “Falling Off” and it plays when James (a politician) takes Shelly back after she confessed to having done a sex tape in past.

Check out the clip of the scene where Shelly finds out her tape is all over the net. If you want to hear the song, you’ll have to wait until MTV releases the whole episode online.

Acclaimed illustrator Sophie Blackall has a new Etsy promo video showing off her amazing talents - watch the highly recommended video above. Blackall has a new series of illustrations about Craigslist Missed Connections, a truly interesting and un-mined resource for art inspiration.

Beyond the fact that Sophie is a fascinating person, talented artist, and overall inspirational person, this video caught our attention because it features a trifecta of amazing songs - “Tonight, Tonight” by Paul Layton, “Telegram” by Buried Beds, and “Quiet Nights, Quiet Places” by Malbec.

Pablo Sebastian’s bubbly, yet reflective gem “Fall Face First, Hit Rock Bottom,” has been featured quite a lot in television shows, but the most recent episode of Grey’s Anatomy may be the best usage of the song yet - the whole song played during a montage that starts with Teddy asking Christina what her dream surgeries are, as she surprises her and lets her know she thinks she’s ready now.

Between the catchy chorus, Pablo’s soothing voice, and the aforementioned bubbly electronic hooks, the song has totally hooked us, so if you haven’t checked it out yet, watch the video above.

Blue Mountain State is back for another season full of football and raunch, and they were in rare form with the recent episode “Dic Pics” - need evidence? Just check out the scene above featuring Thad stealing Alex’s phone and using it to take a ‘dic pic’ and send it to a girl Alex tried to hit on (and failed) the previous night.

As an added bonus, the scene also features “Rock Bottom” by Pablo Sebastian, and this somber tune provides a silly juxtaposition with the on-screen co-ed madness that is going on.

Pablo Sebastian’s old band Malbec played a delightful blend of quirky indie pop that we became quite fond of. One of their most memorable songs, “Was It,” popped up in the second episode of The Lying Game, “Being Sutton.”

Check out the scene/song above, as Alec and Mads argue about Thayer at the Faughter/Daughter dance.

Have you seen ABC Family’s new show Switched at Birth yet? The show stars Vanessa Marano and Katie Leclerc as two girls that got accidentally switched in the hospital, and Leclerc’s character Daphne is deaf (note: thanks to Wikipedia, we also found out that Leclerc herself suffers from Ménière’s disease, a degenerative, inner ear disorder whose symptoms include fluctuating hearing loss and vertigo).

What really got our attention though was at the beginning of the pilot episode, they used Pablo Sebastian’s soothing “Hurricane” as Daphne is shown around her biological parent’s home and plays basketball with her biological brother, Toby. Sebastian’s heartfelt music always sets the mood well for a dramatic scene, and we hope there’s more from him in this show. Now excuse us while we go play catch-up and watch the next two episodes so we can be caught up for Monday’s upcoming new episode.

(Final Note: Does anybody know the other song that plays in the first half of this clip? We both really like it, but can’t figure it out! HELP!)

Pablo Sebastian’s “Fall Face First, Hit Rock Bottom” made for the perfect poignant ending to a recent episode of Make It Or Break It. Now, the show has decided to kickstart an episdoe with his tune “Break Me Down,” which is an edgier tune that demonstrates Sebastian’s chameleon-like ability to easily play with different genres.

As the episode “Life or Death” starts Lauren wants to be photographed by Max so she annoys Emily about not being able to see her boyfriend until Emily relinquishes the beam.
