MTV’s Awkward, in an episode titled after the classic Cyndi Lauper hit “Time After Time,” recently featured two delightful tunes, including one from Nick Ruth, who was formerly in one of our favorite bands, Malbec.
Australian super-group Seeker, Lover, Keeper provided the first song of notice with “If The Night Is Dark,” which plays when Jenna has a heart to heart with Matty. Sarah Blasko, Sally Seltmann and Holly Throsby comprise this band, and if you’re like us and love Seltmann (and her other projects New Buffalo and Alphabet Botanical), you’ll love Seeker, Lover, Keeper as well.
Going back to Nick Ruth, his song “Believe” provides the soothing background during the slow dance at a wedding, and it’s a tune that stands up with the best of his former band Malbec, as well as Malbec frontman Pablo Sebastian’s solo work. Check out the full episode above and keep your ears open.
