Last week’s episode of Shameless, “A Long Way From Home,” was centered around a custody battle in court in which Fiona attempts to take control of her life with the kids, and it also featured two great uses of songs - one from French-via-New York songstress Sydney Wayser, and another from scrappy indie stalwarts Middle Distance Runner. “Potions” by Sydney Wayser plays while Frank goes to The Alibi to have a few drinks to calm his nerves before going to family court.   Near the end, “The Fury” by Middle Distance Runner plays and *SPOILER ALERT* this song plays when Fiona wins the custody of her siblings and they all are happy and celebrate, with the exception of the visibly shocked Jimmy.  Sydney Wayser on Facebook | Last.fm Middle Distance Runner on Facebook | Last.fm Zoom

The sweet sounds of Sydney Wayser have been feature again in MTV’s Catfish (our favorite new reality show) during Episode 4 (Jasmine and Mike) which you can watch in full above. 

The New York-based French-American songstresses tune “Time Frame” plays when Nev helps Jasmine write a text to Mike letting him know she needs to meet him face to face in order to move forward in the relationship.

MTV’s new show Catfish has probably the best premise for a reality show we’ve seen in a long time - the show focuses on people who have developed online relationships but have never met, and sees what happens when they finally meet face-to-face and whether or not they have always presented themselves truthfully behind the mask of a screen.

On top of having an interesting premise, we’re also pretty happy with their choice in music.  In the latest episode, Sydney Wayser’s “Dream It Up” can be heard when Nev and Max Skype with Kim for the first time as she tells them about her online romance with Matt.  Watch the entire episode above.

We’ve been kind of busy the last few weeks and got backed up, and sometimes when this happens a few things slip through the cracks. One such thing was a reader tip about singer/songwriter Sydney Wayser, who we had first heard on Shameless last season.  Sydney’s quirkily-titled song “This One Goes Out To Ethan Hawke” bwas featured in the  Made In Jersey pilot, which you can stream on CBS.com. The song plays when Martina and Cyndi struggle with Ellie’s case and are losing hope they’ll be able to get the charges against her dropped.  Unfortunately for fans of Made In Jersey, the show has been cancelled after just two episodes, giving it the dubious distinction of being the first new show to be cancelled this fall.  Sydney Wayser on Facebook | Last.fm Zoom
